Deck the Halls!
Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 05:29PM OK, I know 'tis the season' is over... but I'm finally getting my Tara Whitney pictures on display and it feels like Christmas! I am so SO happy we took some time out of our family vacation in California last summer to have a session with her! We will have these memories forever. FOREVER! Think about that. Before our Tara session, we'd never had a REAL family photo shoot. I always figured I could set up our family pictures and have someone else hit the shutter. Or, I'd set the camera up on a tripod and use the self timer. Listen up fellow photographers... it's not the same! Being a client was the best thing I could have done for myself as a professional. Preparing for the session was an eye-opening experience. Looking into the lens from the other side was humbling. Anticipating the results was like waiting for a big delivery from Amazon! But seeing my family through the eyes of another was the real gift. I never knew we looked like that. It made me appreciate us. It helped me to really SEE. Now, I get to look at these everyday and its like happiness is splashed all over my walls! This gallery wrap canvas is 60x40... yes, that's 5 feet folks!

I think this is my favorite picture of Grant ever. This gallery wrap canvas is 16x24.

This family picture is a 16x20. It's in an Amy frame. My friend Amy Blanchard makes frames in Louisiana. I have been looking for the right thing for this frame for 2 years! I love how Tara shot this vertically but she has us arranged horizontally. She's crazy creative like that! So, I took a horizontal picture of it just to mess with your head :)

These are 11x14s on easels. I have 4 pictures stacked on each easel and the kids switch them out all the time. They love to put the pictures of themselves in front (of course!).

Absolutely awesome looking!!!!! I love what you said about the experience as a client, being a professional yourself. REally great!!!
I found you via Tara Whitney. Your photos that Tara shot are beautiful, and your work is beautiful too! I was wondering how the photo in the red frame was mounted, and is it behind glass? I'm just curious because I'm ready to start framing some of my family photos, and I love the variety you have your home! Thanks!
Thanks Vera! That picture in the red frame is a standard matte print, mounted on styrene. There is no glass in the frame. That frame faces a big window... and the glare would not be pretty!
I just found you through Tara as well. Love ALL of your photos. Where did you get your "easels" for the 11x14 shots?
Hi Val! I THINK those easels came from Michael's... do you have a Michael's near you? They have a great selection!
